3Sun Group Acquires AID Industrial

Home » News, Press & Projects » 3Sun Group Acquires AID Industrial
Aberdeen-based topside and subsea service provider, 3sun Group, recently announced its acquisition of AID Industrial, a specialist PPE provider and expert in industrial rope access, work at height and Global Wind Organisation safety courses.

The acquisition of AID Industrial marked a successful first half the year for 3Sun and follows a number of major contract wins and a £10M investment from the Business Growth Fund.

AID Industrial, a team of seven staff located in Great Yarmouth with over 25 years' experience, is a proven provider of world-class rope access training to clients across the globe and is one of the largest domestic equipment suppliers to indusries with fall arrest, work restraint and work positioning needs. 3sun Group's acquisition of the firm reflects its own commitment to offer “complementary capabilities to the renewable energy and oil and gas sectors” and will help expand the group’s expertise in the supply of PPE services.

3sun Group CEO Graham Hacon said: “This is a significant acquisition for [us] as rope access and working at height are key competencies required of our technicians. Bringing this training expertise in-house to our 3sun Academy allows us tighter control over costs, which ultimately benefits our clients.”

Tjebbe Roestenburg, Managing Director, AID Industrial added: “We have worked with 3sun Group for a number of years and are delighted to become part of the Group. We can now enhance our training provision and are already considering improvements to our tower climbing facility to replicate servicing offshore equipment at height. Our commitment to offering a quality service will be enhanced through this synergy as we look to establish ourselves as a centre of excellence within the southern sector.”
